Structured Cabling, Wi-Fi, and Network Access Management
Client: Public School, Marikina City, Philippines
Scope: 2 Academic Buildings | 4 Floors Each | Integrated Wi-Fi + Web-Based Network Management + SSO
๐ ๏ธ Project Overview (2025)
We designed and deployed a comprehensive IT infrastructure for a public school in Marikina City, covering structured cabling, enterprise Wi-Fi, single sign-on (SSO) authentication, and centralized web administration of the campus network. This digital transformation project provides students, teachers, and staff with seamless, secure, and scalable internet access across multiple learning and administrative spaces.
๐งต Structured Cabling System
The backbone of the project was a Category 6 structured cabling system, built for reliability and future scalability. Highlights include:
- Horizontal and vertical cable runs across 4 floors in each building
- Protected conduits and cable trays for long-term durability
- Centralized patch panels and racks for organized network distribution
- Backbone inter-floor and inter-building links with high-speed uplinks
๐ถ Wi-Fi Network Coverage
To ensure strong and consistent wireless coverage:
- Enterprise-grade wireless access points (APs) were deployed per floor and key areas
- Wi-Fi was extended to classrooms, AVR rooms, faculty lounges, and administrative offices
- Wireless network was optimized through heatmapping and coverage planning tools
๐ User Access with Single Sign-On (SSO)
To simplify and secure internet access for all users, we implemented a Single Sign-On (SSO) system that integrates with the schoolโs user directory. This enables:
- Unified login credentials for students, teachers, and administrators
- Role-based access control to manage content filtering and internet usage
- Centralized identity management for onboarding and offboarding users
๐ Web-Based Network Administration
A cloud-enabled web administration panel was provided for the school’s IT personnel to:
- Monitor internet usage in real-time
- Manage connected devices and bandwidth allocation
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues and perform system diagnostics
- Schedule access times and enforce content filtering policies
This allows the school to manage the entire network from a single dashboard, reducing downtime and ensuring a smooth user experience.
๐ฎ Future-Ready Features
The infrastructure was designed for future digital expansion, including:
- Reserved ports and power for VoIP, IP surveillance cameras, and IoT devices
- Flexible VLAN setup to separate guest, academic, and admin networks
- Scalable wireless infrastructure ready for device population growth
- Integration-ready with future Learning Management Systems (LMS) or smart classroom tools
โ Results and Impact
This project successfully delivered a modern, efficient, and secure digital environment for a public school, promoting enhanced digital learning, better communication, and smoother administration. With SSO and web-based control, IT operations are more centralized, user-friendly, and future-ready.
